The boring but honest page

Privacy

The short version

  • We collect nothing unless you write to us. There are no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers on this site.
  • If you use the contact form, we get what you typed and we use it to reply. That is the whole arrangement.
  • We have never sold personal information and we are not going to.

01

What we collect

Browsing this site puts nothing of yours anywhere. There is no account, no tracker and no profile being built. The only way we learn anything about you is if you send us a message.

When you use the contact form, we receive exactly the fields it shows you:

  • Your name and email address, both required, because we cannot reply without them.
  • Your phone number, only if you choose to fill it in.
  • Your reason for writing, picked from the list.
  • A date and a number of people, if the form asked and you answered.
  • Your message.

One more thing arrives with it: your IP address. We read it when the form is submitted and hold it in memory for one hour, purely to count submissions and stop a bot sending hundreds. It is never written to a database and nothing else is done with it.

We do not ask for, and have no way to receive, any card or payment details. Payment happens at the trailer, on a card reader that has nothing to do with this website.

02

What we do with it

We answer you. That is the only purpose. Your message is delivered to our inbox as an email, and we reply from there.

We do not add you to a mailing list, because we do not have one. If we ever start one, you will have to ask to be on it. Being on it will never be a side effect of asking us a question.

03

Who we share it with

Two companies handle your message on the way to us: the one that hosts this website, and the one that delivers the email. Neither does anything with it beyond getting it to our inbox.

A few others serve parts of the page itself: the typeface, the map tiles and the photographs. Like any content network they see the IP address asking for a file, and nothing else.

That is everyone. Nobody pays us for your details, and none of them is an advertising or analytics company.

04

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. Not analytics cookies, not preference cookies, not advertising cookies. Nothing is written to your browser's storage either.

There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel and no session recorder. That is also why you were not shown a cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to. If we ever add something that needs consent, this page changes first and you will be asked properly.

Our social links are ordinary links, not embeds. Instagram and Facebook learn nothing about you until you click.

05

How long we keep it

Your message
Stays in our inbox while we deal with it, and for a reasonable time after in case you write again about the same thing. Then it is deleted. Ask us to delete it sooner and we will.
Your IP address
One hour, in memory, for the spam counter. It expires on its own and is never stored.
Server logs
Held by our host on their own schedule, not ours. We do not extend it and we do not copy anything out of them.
06

Your rights

Email us and we will do any of the following, free, whoever you are and wherever you live:

  • Tell you what we hold about you, which for almost everyone is nothing at all.
  • Send you a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it.

We aim to answer within a few days, and we will not make you jump through a portal or prove your identity three ways for a request this small. We will not treat you differently for asking.

For California residents specifically: the categories above are the only personal information we collect, we collect it only from you, and we use it only to reply to you. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have not in the past twelve months. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under sixteen.

07

Children

This site is aimed at people buying coffee, not at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child under thirteen. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.

08

Security

Everything travels over an encrypted connection. The contact form is validated on the server as well as in your browser, and it is rate limited so it cannot be used to flood anyone.

We hold almost nothing, which is the strongest security measure available to a business this size. No customer database exists to lose.

09

Changes to this policy

If we change how any of this works, we update this page and the date at the top of it. We will not quietly start collecting something new and leave the old text up.

Getting in touch about privacy

Write to hello@theluma.coffee and put "privacy" somewhere in the subject line. It reaches a person, not a ticket queue.
